Those were the heartfelt words extracted from the emotional speech made by a new Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics, Pham Bich Nhu, a lecturer of Can Tho University at the graduation and doctoral degree awarding ceremony held on March 26, 2022 at Quy Nhon University.
All the attendees were deeply touched by Nhu’s statement, implicitly expressing her sincere gratitude and really put their trust in the quality of the University’s training programs when listening to her story of 4 years of pursuing her doctoral program in mathematics at a university in Central Vietnam - Central Highlands.

On learning that I had enrolled in a doctoral program in Mathematics at Quy Nhon University, many of my friends, colleagues, and leaders of the university, where I work, put a question to my decision. It is because most of Can Tho University’s lecturers have chosen to study at the universities in either Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi.
In order to make the decision to choose Quy Nhon University to pursue a 4-year doctoral program in mathematics, I spent quite a long time finding out about its capabilities of mathematics training and research. Quy Nhon University has had a good reputation for its excellence in basic science, especially in Mathematics. My love for this university really grew stronger when I had the opportunity to meet math lecturers of Quy Nhon University at national and international mathematics conferences and workshops.
I was even more proud and happy when in December 2020, the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics of the University was honored to be selected to be included in the National Key Program for the Development of Mathematics in the 2021-2030 period with a view to causing it to become one of the three leading mathematics centers of Vietnam, functioning as an impetus for developing mathematics and bolstering support for the implementation of the program in Central Vietnam - Central Highlands.
4 years, a period not too long but long enough to strengthen my belief in my choice, so that today it is a great honor and pride, on behalf of the new doctoral and Master’s degree holders, make a speech at this solemn ceremony.

“After 4 years of pursuing my doctoral program at Quy Nhon University, I have always felt like I were at home. At this place and at this moment, I am confident to say that I was quite right when I decided to do a PhD at Quy Nhon University. If I had to choose again, I would still choose to study at this university”, Nhu said.
