1. TRAINING OBJECTIVES
The course taken by Literature majors provides a comprehensive foundation in the fields of philosophy, politics, history, culture etc, and a systematic knowledge of language and literature. After completing the program of training in Literature, students gain the professional capacity and skills of self-innovation, self-study to improve their knowledge or undertake further studies after university; gain a comprehensive knowledge of literature in the specialized training program; utilize information technology in specialized research.
2. STRENGTHS OF THE PROGRAM
- With nearly 20 years’ experience in training Bachelor of Arts in Literature, Quy Nhon University’s Department of Literature is one of the prestigious training institutions in this field in Viet nam.
- The program is designed to meet the standard framework set by MOET, regularly updated.

- Students are provided with research skills, organizational skills, problems-solving skills related to the field of literature.
- Especially, the two specialized fields of study, separated in the third year, will orient learners to focusing on specific skills in literature research or to fulfilling the tasks of administrative tasks, press and social management.
3. CONTENTS OF THE PROGRAM
- The program lasts for four years. The total amount of knowledge of the course is 135 credits (excluding subjects of physical education, national defense - security education), including:
- General knowledge: 22 credits (excluding the conditional subjects of physical education, national defense-security education).
- Specialized knowledge: 86 credits
- Specialization in Narrative Training (1. Literature and Art Criticism, 2. Language - Newspaper - Office): 20 credits/ specialization
- Graduation thesis, alternative modules: 7 credits
- The program equips students with basic knowledge of Literature, Language, Literary Theory, Ancient Chinese-Vietnamese, professional knowledge, ensuring the research and work in the agencies and organizations.
- Students are provided with professional skills and soft skills such as
+ Literary and linguistic research skills
+ Communication skills
+ Skills in using basic information technology in professional work
+ Teamwork skills
+ Skills in organizing social and cultural activities

5. JOB OPPORTUNITY
- A Literature graduate can work as a reporter, who gets into every corner of life to "hunt" for information. The subject can be a disadvantaged person in need of help, a poor but excellent student that needs to be hailed as a model, an act of beating a child brutally that needs to be condemned, etc... All stories of this kind have to be reported in newspapers.
- Quy Nhon University’s Literature alumni can work as screenplayers for television stations and cinemas and proofreaders at publishing companies as well as in most of the media, press institutions across Vietnam. With a good or excellent academic achievement, a Literature graduate can apply for a job at institutions of higher education, Research Institutes: Institutes of Literature Studies, Institutes of Cultural Studies, etc. In addition, a Literature graduate can work at culture and information agencies at city, province, district level: Department of Culture, Office of Culture as well as at Central Youth Union, Central Students' Union, Provincial Youth Union, Municipal, Provincial People's Committees as a movement activist.
