NSF- On January 16, the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Quy Nhon University held a scientific workshop both online and in person with the theme of “Land-use planning to adapt to climate change and sustainable development”. The workshop aimed to share information and content on land-use planning and the application of geospatial and mathematical models to the analysis of the impact of land use planning on sustainable development goals and the adapting of urban planning, making it suitable for climate change.
Attending the workshop, on the side of the guest speakers, were Mr. Tran Quang Khai - Director of Phuoc Thinh Natural Resources Company, Dr. Nguyen Huu Ha – Deputy Director of Binh Dinh Department of Science and Technology, Dr. Pham Quang Anh - Lecturer of the Department of Geography, Hanoi University of Science and Technology and representatives of some of Binh Dinh’s agencies and departments such as Binh Dinh Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Binh Dinh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Binh Dinh Department of Construction. The attendees, on the side of Quy Nhon University, were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Ngoc My, Rector, Dr. Nguyen Huu Xuan - Head of Administrative Affairs Department; Dr. Ngo Anh Tu - Vice Dean of Faculty of Natural Sciences; Dr. Truong Quang Hien - Head of the Department of Geography - Management of Natural Resources and Environment and lecturers, Course 24 MA students and students of the Faculties of Geography - Management of Natural Resources Management and Environment and Natural Sciences.
Participants exchange ideas at the workshop
The workshop opened up new approaches to integrating geospatial and mathematical modeling in land-use planning in Binh Dinh, understanding the term integrated land-use planning as well as its position and role in the land-use planning system at all levels; analysis of urban planning adapting to climate change (in the direction of landscape planning). In addition, the integrated land-use planning with difficulties in input data, funding, and human resources are also some issues that the administrators and experts are interested in.
Through the workshop, Quy Nhon University received many useful comments and opinions from the experts and leaders from the Bình Dinh Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Binh Dinh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Binh Dinh Department of Construction, Binh Dinh Department of Science and Technology and Phuoc Thinh Natural Resources and Environment Company, from which some future solutions related to sustainable development in the Central - Central Highlands region, especially in the context of global climate change and socio-economic fluctuations in the region, in Vietnam as well as in the world, were put forward. The workshop also contributed to promoting the connection between scientific research and real life. The research results helped provide scientific information for applied research in the actual conditions of the locality, a valuable source of reference for further studies, and contributed to the goal of developing the country and increased resilience to climate change for the Central Highlands region in particular and the country in general.
