Quy Nhon University (QNU) is a multi-disciplinary higher education institution with a mission to train high-quality human resources, foster talents, encourage scientific research, impart knowledge and promote technology transfer, which helps effectively serve the sustainable development of the country, especially the South Central region - Central Highlands and contributes to social progress.
Over the years, in order to fulfill the mission and achieve the set goals, the lecturers of QNU have constantly improved their teaching and research capacity. The University always determines the development of scientific research, cooperation and association in training high-quality human resources, connecting businesses and partners are the main tasks, based on abundant resources with more than 700 lecturers and employees with more than 500 highly qualified lecturers.
Affirming its capacity for scientific research and training quality human resources
In the 4th honoring ceremony of "Outstanding intellectuals in Science - Technology of Binh Dinh 2022", QNU had 11 out of 59 outstanding scientists and intellectuals honored. The intellectuals have made important contributions in scientific research, creation and innovation of technology, contributing to the affirmation of the capacity in scientific research and demonstrating the strong creativity of QNU’s lecturers. “The University is committed to being ready to uphold all decisions and implement the development orientations of the locality, acting as a bridge between Binh Dinh and domestic and foreign experts to help promote the socio-economic development of the province" - Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Ngoc My spoke at the ceremony.
QNU is a unit with many intellectuals honored in the 4th Honoring Ceremony of "Outstanding Intellectuals in Science and Technology of Binh Dinh Province 2022”
In 2021, QNU had 329 articles published in domestic and international scientific journals, of which 96 articles were published in prestigious international scientific journals under the Web of Science. As of March 2022, the University had carried out 18 state-level science and technology projects, 25 ministerial-level projects, 3 provincial-level science and technology projects and 89 university-level science and technology projects.
Placing importance on scientific research, international cooperation in its training and community service
Along with the development of scientific research that is increasing rapidly in quantity and quality of lecturers and students, the University regularly establishes cooperation and training relationships with prestigious domestic and international educational institutions, organizations and research institutes. Many Memorandums of Understanding on bilateral and multilateral cooperation in training, research and technology transfer have been signed and effectively implemented between QNU and prestigious universities from European and Asian countries. Of these, the IUC Program of QNU (IUC-QNU) is funded by VLIR-UOS with a non-refundable aid to the University under the coordination of the University of Leuven (Belgium). QNU was the only university in Asia selected in 2021. This program has been implemented for 10 years with the dual goal of sustainably improving the livelihoods and living conditions of coastal residents in South Central Region - Central Highlands and improving the training and research capacity of QNU in the field of agriculture, food, natural disasters, floods and renewable energy.
The early flood warning system applied in river basins in the South Central Region is one of the research projects under the IUC-QNU Program to help inhabitants collect information to prevent storms and floods.
Evaluating the IUC - QNU Program, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc said that the program was completely in line with the development strategy of QNU in particular and the strategy of education development and science and technology development in the period 2021-2030 of the country as a whole. “I believe that, with the products and results of the IUC program after 10 years of implementation, it will make a great contribution to the sustainable livelihoods of people in the South Central Region - Central Highlands and the whole country. It also contributes to enhancing the capacity, reputation and brand of QNU with its responsibility to serve the community”, he said.
On the occasion of the 26th anniversary of friendly cooperation between Quy Nhon City and Yongsan District, the delegation of Yongsan District and Jeonbuk National University (South Korea) paid a working visit to QNU. The University signed a memorandum of understanding with Yongsan District and Jeonbuk National University in cultural and language training and student and faculty exchange between the two universities. QNU not only focuses on cooperation in cultural and language exchange, but also strengthens research, academic and training cooperation at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in order to further strengthen the relationship between the two sides.
Connecting businesses – increasing employment opportunities for students
In its training strategy, QNU is always interested in employment opportunities for its students. Based on the needs of the labor market, QNU constantly innovates its training programs and improves its teaching quality. QNU’s students are not only provided with specialized knowledge but also equipped with soft skills and foreign languages. These are the factors that are really necessary for its students to "convince" enterprises and employers.
In order to create conditions for young people in learning and scientific research to have a personal development environment, QNU always focuses on close links with leading enterprises in many fields. Some enterprises have signed cooperation agreements with QNU such as Hung Thinh Corporation, TMA Solutions, FPT Software, Vingroup, ICISE, VinTech, Hwaseung Vina, Fujinet Systems, banks. The students studying related disciplines will experience in the working environment of enterprises right from the first year of study, and can study and practice at the same time. Moreover, QNU students are even paid right during their internship.

QNU is also on the side of enterprises and local authorities in meeting human resource needs, contributing to the socio-economic development of Binh Dinh. With the inherent strong development of the tourism industry in Quy Nhon City in recent years, in January 2022, QNU signed a cooperation agreement with Pegasus International School and Hung Thinh Corporation in the implementation of formal and short-term training programs, providing high-quality human resources by international standards, bringing Quy Nhon tourism to reality "Asian vision". This is a great opportunity for QNU students of Hotel Management, Tourism and Travel Service Management, Vietnamese Studies, English Language to access funding scholarships, improve the quality of practice and feel secure to work in a professional working environment.
In May 2022, the world's No.1 thin film producer, KURZ (Federal Republic of Germany) officially started construction of the first factory in Vietnam. This is the 12th factory of KURZ worldwide and the 3rd in Asia, after the factories built in China and Malaysia, and also the first industrial project carried out at Becamex VSIP Binh Dinh Industrial Park. Dr. Cosima von Salis - Director General of KURZ, Vietnam said that, after researching and surveying in Vietnam, Kurz Group realized that Binh Dinh was a promising locality, and there was also a higher education institution offering some programs that met the human resource needs of the corporation. “I think this is an opportunity for both sides. We are looking for university graduates because we really need high quality human resources. We hope that the human resources will be supplied by QNU”, he said. This is a great advantage in terms of job opportunities for QNU students, especially in the field of Materials Science.
Until now, QNU has signed cooperation agreements 400 agencies and large enterprises, of which 55 more than 55 agencies and enterprises have pledged to be on QNU’s side in creating job opportunities for its students. In the past 5 years, according to the results of the annual employment survey, the percentage of students who have found employment after 12 months of graduation has reached over 80%.
QNU is a higher education institution that provides an important source of human resources for the labor market in the South Central Region - Central Highlands. Therefore, scientific research, construction and development of training programs associated with the trend of international integration play an important role in improving the quality of higher education, training global citizens and attract international students to Vietnam. With appropriate efforts and steps, QNU has affirmed its training position in the higher education system of Vietnam; well perform the role of providing highly qualified human resources for the region. QNU is gradually affirming its position in Vietnam’s higher education system and setting a certain milestone on the way to reaching out to the world.
