I. Introduction:
1. On the office’s establishment
- Prior to 1977, when the University was founded, the Office of Political Affairs had been an independent unit; the work of student management had belonged to the Personnel Department.
- In the period of 1990 - 1999, the work of student management was transferred to the Office of Training (now known as the Training Department) and the work of Political Affairs to the Personnel Department with its new name being the Department of Personnel - Political Affairs.
- In 1999, the work of Political Affairs was separated from the Department of Personnel - Political Affairs and became an independent unit with its name being the Office of Political Affairs.
- In April 2004, the Office of Political Affairs merged with the unit of student management (from the Training Department) with its new name being the Office of Political and Student Affairs.
- In November 2009, the Office of Political & Student Affairs was renamed the Student Affairs Office.

II. Functions and tasks:
1. Functions:
Offering advice to the Rector on the work of ideological education and student management according to the regulations stipulated by the Ministry of Education and Training and the regulations by the University.
2. Tasks
a / Regarding the political and ideological education for students:
Disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's policies and laws, the rules and regulations of the University and departments to students; conducting educational activities related to politics, ideology, ethics, lifestyle and life skills for students to help them not only improve their academic achievements but also constantly cultivate moral quality to become students who are good not only professionally but also politically.
b) Regarding the work of student management:
- Receiving, examining, processing and entering data of students of the new course; classifying student records into specific categories to quickly implement the welfare policies for students and provide profile data for functional units.
- Regularly studying documents, decrees issued by the Government and guiding circulars issued by the Ministry of Education and Training on the implementation of welfare policies for students on capital borrowing, tuition fee exemption and social allowance.
- Conducting, evaluating training results of students (semesters I, II and academic year); reviewing commendation, discipline and scholarships (semesters I, II); holding conferences commending and awarding good students.
- Guiding off-campus students to implement Quy Nhon University's off-campus regulations.
- Conducting cultural, artistic and sporting activities for students.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Rector.
Achievements recorded:
Ideological and political work: annually conducting “First week’s civil activities”, paying practical attention to disadvantaged students and poor but determined students, regularly conductingcultural and artistic sporting and physical activities for students.
Student work: Applying information technology in the data entry, ensuring time and accuracy; classifying student profiles into specific categories to quickly implement the welfare policies for students.
Since 2008, the Office has regularly performed the task of filing and managing student records, evaluated training results for the University’s students and proposed awarding scholarships as stipulated. The office has annually organized the students' convention to commend students who have recorded good academic achievements as well as community work.
Forms of commendation received:
- In 2002, granted the Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister;
- In 2005, granted the Certificate of Merit by the Ministry of Education and Training (written in the commendation book No. 6326 / QD / BGD & DT dated November 10, 2005);
- Continuously recognized as "Good Labor Collective"; "Excellent Labor Collective" for many years.
With the spirit of solidarity, determination to successfully accomplish the task assigned, the Office of Student Affairs is always proactive, active, creative to implement the task. The office’s staff always maintains a sense of discipline, responsibily in their work with a view to successfully completed all assigned tasks.
