Quy Nhon University’s First Quarter, 2022 News Review has the following top news and major events:
After a long time of online learning, on February 14, 2022, the University welcomed more than 12,000 students back to campus to study in person.
In addition to the investment and upgrading of the teaching and learning facilities, Quy Nhon University also attached great importance to the disease prevention and control by disinfecting its lecture halls, dormitories, administrative buildings and urgently conducting a careful review to see whether the students had been given Covid-19 vaccine basic and booster shots, requesting the Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee to make a plan to distribute and give Covid-19 shots to the students as soon as possible.
Online E-learning training carried out.
Currently, the IT infrastructure for E-Learning has been completed, and the training work has been carried out in February and March 2022 for lecturers as well as officials in charge of the e-learning training.
According to the plan, in the academic year 2022-2023, Quy Nhon University will officially teach some subjects to full-time and part-time students in the form of E-learning.
Awarding Prizes and Organizing Workshop on Entrance Gate Design Ideas for Quy Nhon University
The contest attracted 19 competitors. Having made an objective judgement of the design ideas proposed by the competitors, the Panel of Independent Judges decided to award the prizes to 3 most excellent entrance gate design ideas, (meeting all the criteria set by the Panel). Accordingly, the first prize was awarded to the entrance gate design idea by Scene Plus Architecture Co., Ltd with Code IG3979 under the theme of “Connecting space, converging knowledge”.
On this basis, the leadership of Quy Nhon University unanimously decided to choose the entrance gate design idea that won the first prize and organize a workshop on the scale model of the proposed Quy Nhon University entrance gate. The workshop discussed and synthesized comments on in-depth contents such as a comprehensive plan of the entrance gate; minimalist ideas, metaphors and the estimated cost of the entrance gate so that the building of the gate would be carried out and completed as planned.
More than 500 graduate students, Course 24 attended the opening ceremony of the MA degree program (2021 - 2023).
On March 26, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Ngoc My - Rector of Quy Nhon University announced the Decision to officially recognize Course 24 graduate students of 17 programs.
On this occasion, Quy Nhon University also held a graduation ceremony and awarded degrees to 6 doctoral students, Course 4 (2016 - 2020) and 480 master’s students, Course 22 (2019 - 2021). At the same time, the University also rewarded 21 graduate students for their outstanding achievements in studies and classroom management.
Regarding enrollment, in 2022, the University enrolled full-time undergraduate students with 49 training programs and 1 high-quality Accounting program. Of these, there were 3 new programs: Logistic and Supply Chain Management; Artificial intelligence and Data science with a total quota of 5,500, of which the quota for pedagogical programs was 1,600.
For the master's level, this year, the University recruited graduate students of 24 programs with a quota of 700. At the meeting in the first quarter of 2022, the Board of Directors also agreed on the policy of initiating a Master’s program in Finance - Banking.
Signing cooperation agreements with some corporations and enterprises
In order to prepare high-quality human resources to meet the needs of Quy Nhon tourism development, in the first quarter of 2022, Quy Nhon University signed a cooperation agreement on training and developing human resources in the tourism industry with Hung Thinh Group and Pegasus International School. Accordingly, Hung Thinh Land announced a sponsorship of 100 billion VND (US$ 4 million) for 3 years. This funding would be used to finance the training and provide 10,000 tourism jobs for Binh Dinh residents in 5 years.
Also in March 2022, Deo Ca Group and Quy Nhon University signed a cooperation agreement to supply and meet human resources on a large scale. According to the signed agreement, Deo Ca Group would participate in the training, offer internships, give priority to recruiting Quy Nhon University graduates and send experts to exchange sessions held with the aim of equipping students with soft skills and career guidances.
Up to now, Quy Nhon University has signed cooperation agreements with 43 corporations and businesses across the country. This is an opportunity for Quy Nhon University students to get access to scholarships, improve their practical skills and have more job opportunities.
IUC Project
On February 24, 2022, the Minister of Education and Training signed a decision to approve the Operational Plan and Contractor Selection Plan in 2022 of the Project "Preparation for the Institutional University Cooperation Program" (IUC) with Quy Nhon University”.
The program will implement 5 research projects on agricultural science, food, environment, renewable energy and 2 capacity building projects of the University with the goal of sustainable improvement of livelihoods and living conditions of local residents through enhancing capacity for training and scientific research over a 10-year period, from 2022 to 2032.
Scientific research is one of the strengths of Quy Nhon University. As of March 2022, the University has undertaken 18 State-level research projects, 25 ministerial-level projects and tasks, 3 provincial-level projects and 89 university-level projects. In 2021 alone, the University had 329 articles published in domestic and international scientific journals, of which 96 articles were published in prestigious international scientific journals under the Web of Science.
