ICT – On the morning of February 16, 2022, Quy Nhon University held a ceremony, both online and in person, to announce the results and award the prizes for the contest of the entrance gate design ideas for Quy Nhon University (QNU).
Attending the ceremony, on the side of non-QNU participants, were Prof.D.Sc. Nguyen Quoc Thong - Chairman of the Architectural Council, Vietnam Association of Architects, and Chairman of the Board of Judges for the QNU entrance gate design ideas contest, ARQ. Le Dang Tuan, MA - Deputy Director of Binh Dinh Department of Construction and on the side of QNU, were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Ngoc My – Rector, Standing member of the Council of Judges, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoan – Chairman of QNU’s University Council; Dr. Hoang Quy Chau - Chairwoman of QNU’s Trade Union together with 3 Vice Rectors, heads of units under QNU and the team of technicians of the Panel of Independent Judges.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Ngoc My expressed his joy and thanks for the interest shown by experts and units across the country in the entrance gate design idea contest and offered his congratulations to the consulting units that won the prizes. He said that QNU was the university that had the most beautiful location and space in Vietnam, adding that the rapid development of QNU over the years required a matching outward appearance, and the building of an impressive entrance gate suitable for landscape architecture and QNU’s size and development was very necessary. He emphasized that the entrance gate project was not only expected to be a symbol of QNU’s spatial connection but also a "highlight" of the locality in order to realize the strategic orientation of an Asian tourist destination - the vision of Quy Nhon City in particular and Binh Dinh province in general.
Having made an objective judgement of the design ideas proposed by the competitors, the Panel of Independent Judges decided that the first prize was awarded to the entrance gate design idea by Scene Plus Architecture Co., Ltd with Code IG3979, the second prize went to the Architecture and Sustainable City Construction Investment Joint-Stock Company with the entrance gate design idea with Code VT2807 and the entrance gate design idea with Code QN6789 by TMN Trading - Construction Co., Ltd. was offered the third prize. The consolation prize went to the 2 design ideas with Codes KT0209 and VJ1201 by Architectural Design Joint-Stock Company 02 Vietnam and U&A Architecture and Urban Design Joint-Stock Company respectively.

Prof.D.Sc. Nguyen Quoc Thong highly appreciated the organization of the contest by QNU and the entrance gate design ideas proposed by the consulting units, saying that the thoroughness and methodical work in the organization showed QNU’s expectations of the main gate project. The QNU entrance gate design idea contest attracted nearly 20 consulting units. He remarked that most of the idea were very elaborate, showing both creativeness and practicality, the core values as well as the identity of QNU. Stating that the panel worked very seriously, responsibly and made an impartial judgement of all the ideas proposed design ideas to find the 3 best design ideas, fully expressing the evaluation criteria as well as the trends proposed by the panel.
The entrance gate of QNU is one of the "highlights" designed to meet its development in the trend of integration and concretize the detailed construction planning project of 1/500 scale. approved by Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee. QNU’s entrance gate, together with the other buildings of QNU, will form a unified architecture, in harmony with the regional landscape and in line with its mission and vision.
